    Technical Product Manager

Product ManagementRemote (Cleveland, Chicago, Phoenix, or Seattle preferred)FTESignificant travel expected$70k–$170kUS work authorization required

LightSight is an AI consulting and engineering firm serving private equity firms and their portfolio companies. Our products include technical solutions we design and build for clients and consulting services such as assessments, workshops, and training.

The Product Management team owns client delivery, business development through rapid prototyping and business case building, and the client relationships that sustain both. The Technical Product Manager delivers excellent products to our clients by understanding each client’s business, shaping a solution that creates measurable value, proving it quickly with a working prototype, and managing the work through delivery.

Within each engagement, the Technical Product Manager owns the user experience and the requirements. Engineers receive a well-considered, high-quality UX and clear specifications, so their effort goes into building the right thing. The role suits someone who is comfortable presenting to client executives and equally comfortable building with AI-assisted development tools.

Reports to the Chief AI Officer and works closely with the Product Management team, the engineering and delivery team, the Business Development Manager, and the Chief of Staff. Cleveland, Chicago, Phoenix, or Seattle preferred; fully remote arrangements are available, and there is no in-office requirement. The seniority of the title and the compensation within the posted range are flexible based on experience.

    Core Responsibilities

    Client Discovery and Advisory

    • Work directly with clients to understand their businesses, challenges, and opportunities, and build the business case that connects proposed solutions to measurable value.
    • Lead assessments, workshops, and training sessions for business audiences, from design through delivery.
    • Manage client relationships through the engagement, and communicate progress, recommendations, and results to client stakeholders, including executives.

    Solution Design and Prototyping

    • Design practical technical solutions and make sound architectural decisions in collaboration with engineers.
    • Rapidly prototype solutions using AI-assisted development tools, both to support business development and to let clients react to working software early in an engagement.
    • Define a thoughtful, high-quality user experience for each solution before engineering work begins.

    Requirements and Delivery Management

    • Write clear requirements, manage product backlogs, and prioritize work against client value and delivery capacity.
    • Coordinate work through delivery with engineers and other team members, and hold the team to a high standard of quality.

    Qualifications

    • Experience in product management, solution consulting, or a comparable role delivering technical products or advisory services to business clients.
    • Rapid prototyping. Ability to quickly build and test solutions using AI-assisted development tools.
    • Backlog management. Experience defining requirements, prioritizing work, and managing delivery.
    • Business acumen. Ability to understand client businesses, identify opportunities, and connect solutions to business value.
    • Technical architecture. Ability to design practical technical solutions and make sound architectural decisions.
    • User experience. Ability to define a thoughtful, high-quality user experience and translate it into clear requirements for engineers.
    • Workshops and training. Ability to develop and deliver workshops, assessments, and training sessions for business audiences.
    • Client communication. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to executives, facilitating discussions, and managing client relationships.

We recognize that strong candidates may not have experience in every area listed. We encourage applications from candidates who demonstrate strong quantitative foundations, intellectual curiosity, sound judgment and an ability to learn quickly.

    Competencies

    • Judgment. Knows which client problems are worth solving first, when a prototype is ready to show, and when to bring in engineering.
    • Ownership. Carries a product from the first client conversation to the delivered solution and asks for context when it is missing.
    • Clear communicator. Explains technical decisions to business audiences and business constraints to engineers, adjusting tone for each.
    • Builder’s mindset. Tests ideas by building them, using AI-assisted tools to turn a concept into something a client can react to within days.
    • Business focus. Ties every recommendation and prioritization call to measurable client value.
    • Relationship builder. Earns the trust of client executives, operating teams, and the LightSight delivery team.

    Measures of Success

This job description will serve as the foundation for the 30-60-90 day plan established at hire. The following outcomes define the role performing well:

    • Client stakeholders receive regular, clear updates on progress, recommendations, and results, and client relationships extend beyond the initial engagement.
    • Delivered solutions are adopted by clients and tied to the business outcomes identified at the start of the engagement.

    Working Relationships
